Psycle, DMidi and Anvil Studio        Go on top to this Page

Hello there,
I discovered this cool free midi sequencer called Anvil Studio.
What i would like to do is control psycle through it.
I managed to do it but I can't assign a certain midi channel to a certain generator (and from the boards it seems it's not possible).
I thought it was sufficient to configure the channels in the midi dropdown list that comes with every generator in order to map channels to generators, but it doesn't work, which is too bad...
What I would liked to do was to use two computers, one K6-2 350MHz just for general midi stuff using yamaha soft synth + Anvil Studio, sending the midi events out on the eternet card using DMidi (distributed midi, a project for MIDI over TCP/IP on a LAN) so that my more powerful computer (Athlon 1GHz) could be used for psycle parts... GM + psycle synth

I believe you won't be able to do more than what you've done so far. When the MIDI input code was made, the VST host wasn't as good as it is now, and thus it didn't support some things like indicating the MIDI channel.
As you have seen, you set Psycle to send the midi data on a specific midi channel, to a specific generator. But the midi channel itself is not sent. (I should have to double check it, but I would say it doesn't). And, of course, translation of MIDI channel is not done either.

Still, what you seem to be referring as the combobox, is the Program bank, not the midi channel, so I wonder if you have confused it or not. That can be changed via midi, sending the appropiate midi command (well.. if not, it should have been coded, since now it is possible by the host).

Thanks Jaz, sending change signals from the sequencer to Psycle allows to assign generators to channels.
I think that if a vst plugin with a sequencer existed it would be unusable anyway because of sync problems between midi sound and synthesized sound...
I would use a soft midi implementation since my sound card is very old (I use yamaha soft synth) and adjusting buffer sizes could maybe solve sync problems, but who knows.
Also I don't think it would be possible to direct the soft sinth sound in psycle, right?
I mean, if a vst sequencer existed I would imagine it with settings to load a midi file and to select the midi out (FM synthesis of sound card, or any soft synth installed), the resulting audio signal would go through psycle wires, so that I could add effects to the audio... but it's probably impossible, right?
If it was possible, already existing midi tunes could be enriched with synth sounds of psycle, which would be cool
