I have one case where sending tweak data to a nonexistent effect (I think it's the native filter) crashes psycle.
I removed some effects and the machine always crashed. It took me some time to figure that the cutoff data sent to the filter made the machine crash when the effect was removed.
Anyway, phew! Happy to work with Psycle again, I had to use Buzz for one commercial project and ARGH! I hate that thing. But it has ASIO, MIDI and a few other things that come real handy...
I'm eagerly waiting for the new Psycle with ASIO/ whatever, the DirectX drivers of my audio card are crap, and the sound is disappearing all the time in Psycle and I have to restart... The MME drivers are even worse, a complete joke Well. At least I have 2ms latency in all pro software these days

That's not the usual behaviour, but there is still the "Ghost machine" problem, which might be what your problem is related to. (Did the machine reappeared painted in machine view?)
Tweaks are not sent if the machine doesn't exist so it should be safe.
