No sound whatsoever...        Go on top to this Page

I'm working on a music project which when opened and played, does not output any sound. I see the VU bars on the machines moving, but no sound is output until I mute one of the machines.

I have a vst by the name of "Cygnus" which is present in the track, and muting it allows the song to be heard as normal, without it. However, this synth is a key part of the song, and I need to know what's causing this so I can fix it with any other track in which it occurs.

I have 4gig ram, running the new version 1.8.8 beta, with a dual-core processor, so I can't really say it's the system. Is it a glitch with the beta version?

Anything will help.

Also, the new beta psycle tend to crash whenever I try to delete a connection from a machine (any machine) to the mixer.

Hello.

From what you describe, it looks like the machine is outputing a signal that is too loud (or maybe even invalid), which, when added to the signal of the other machines, makes everything be clipped.

I am unsure of what may be causing this, but I would like to ask you to run Psycle with single threaded to discard that this is affecting the plugin negatively.

Doing so is relatively easy: Write this in a file named single.cmd in the same directory where Psycle.exe exists:

set PSYCLE_THREADS=1
psycle.exe

Then, doubleclick this file to launch Psycle.

Advise: if you write it with notepad, change the file type dropdown to "all files (*.*). Else, it will attach a .txt extension.

To be sure that Psycle is running in single thread, open the "Performance->CPU performance" window. It should say "Audio Threads 1" on the right side.

Another reason that could cause this is a wrong volume (It was a bug in some old versions with VSTs IIRC around 1.6 or so).
Delete all the wires that connects this machine to the others and recreate them. If the problem persists, we can discard this as well.

Another thing to try is, add this machine to a new song and connect it to master. See if it makes sound then (if it is an effect, add also any synth that you know it works
If it works in this case, then the problem is with some settings, or in the way the settings are restored.
In that case, try changing them and saving/loading this .psy to try to determine what causes it.

About the problems with the Mixer, i'll test it more before the next beta, which I expect to release in June.

Thanks for the solid advice, I'll try all that and get back.

Ok, so I tried that command file and all the other methods, I think I had an old version of the vst which messed up the new version of psycle and wouldn't allow the rest of the music project to output sound until I reinstalled the vst and and replaced it in the project. The issues with the vst are done. And thank you for that, by the way.

But the host still crashes every time I try to delete a machine connection. This makes it so I basically have to replace a machine instead of deleting it everytime, somewhat inconvenient. Any words for that?

Thanks for the help!

Mmm...

The crashes happen with the psycle.exe from the beta 3 installer, or from the .zip that is attached on the news here?
I know that beta 3 was released with some problems, but the "updated" exe in the .zip doesn't crash to me when deleting wires.

To my understanding, it came from the beta version from this website.
