It is a planned feature for the sampler, but it will take some time still. for now, MfM's suggestion might be the best.

I do all my timestretching in Psycle itself.

If you're using samples, open the 'instrument editor' (labeled 'edit' at machine bar) and check 'play sample to fit' box. Then, type the steps number you want the sample/loop to fit (normally 16, 32, 64...)

Of course, extreme timestretching seems to reduce/increase the pitch (says 120 to 140 bpm).

The 'edit' window is one of the most powerful tools of Psycle, so use it wisely!

Oh... i didn't call that time stretching, but now that you say it, i guess it is a more correct definition.

The feature i said it will come later is pitch shifting, instead of pitch change (that affects the bpm/length of the sample).

Of course, time stretching and pitch shifting could be used at the same time.

there is an old trick, that comes out from ancient protracker times...
if you want it you can use sample offset,09xx in the following way :

HERE there is a psy!

the drum loops was sampled at 125bpm but in this psy it sounds good at 135bpm.

Very interesting. Psycle is a surprise box...

What about this pattern? The commands seems somewhat progressive hex values. You put each command at each beat of the drumloop.

But, if the loop was a more complex part (say a funky bassline or a synthline), do you put these commands at each note?

1)You put each command at each beat of the drumloop.

-of course, is something like splitting a loop into some parts,8 samples in that example:

kick,hat,kick+snare,hat,kick,hat,kick+snare,hat

but you can also divide it as you want you just have to calcolate every step with the right offset commands.

2)But, if the loop was a more complex part (say a funky bassline or a synthline), do you put these commands at each note?

-well the trick i talked about before,it's very good for the drums in general, but i haven't really tryied it with synth or basslines, even if i personally think that might be possible.
since i use psycle,i haven't touched too much the sample commands, cause i use lots of plugins to make effects.
in the amiga days all the thing were made with pattern commands, and 09xx was one of the best for a lots of things, but i really don't remember any mods with that commands for synth or baslliness or something else....
i'll try when i have time....
and yes the commands should be inserted at every note, but depending anyway.

Thanks for this explanation, MfM.

Altough I'm using Psycle since 2002, I was totally new to the trackers world, and only at now, I'm understanding global commands and HEX values.

Seems I missed the old good days....

Cheers!
