I speak forth and beg for an answer        Go on top to this Page

Hi

I recently acquired psycle and it seems very versatile. I've never used a tracker before so I'm sort of lost. I had to email one of the board administrators to find out how to turn the edit mode on.
I don't know how to use .wav files as an instruments, I don't know how to loop a .wav file continuously as a drum loop, and I don't know how to shift octaves. I'm fumbling around here. I've checked the available documentation and haven't found specific adresses to these measly issues. If anyone can help with a response, I'd really appreciate it.

thanx

hello

well, it would be rather long to explain here on the boards all details on how PSYCLE works

but, the Up We Go tutorial available in the docs section proposes many details on how to do rather basic stuff in PSYCLE

also, join #psycle on EFnet on IRC, you'll always find people to help you there

finally, of course, you can post precise questions here, you'll probably get precise answers

1- to load a .wav file, insert a sampler in the machine view, then load a wav in the wav tool bar. switch to pattern editor, press space to be in edit mode, and enter notes. (note that you must have a sampler selected as your current generator in the generator drop menu in order to enter notes for a wav file)

2- shifting octaves and tuning : in pattern editor, you can shift notes you previously selected by +/- 1 semitone or +/- 1 octave with a right click menu. if you want to tune a wave file, edit the wav (in the wav toolbar) and tweak the tune slider. if you want to tune a plugin, well, generally plugins have a button for that

is it what you wanted to know ?

i hope this help

ksn

You can check out your "+1/-1 octave" keys from the keyboard config. On my machine they are '/' and '*' -keys (the ones above the numpad).

This didn't clear anything, did it?
