Well, its been a long time coming.. and in the absence of anything concrete happening with heatseeker's previous code, I'm developing a new site for psycledelics, that will take account of the current (nice!) resources we have.
I'd like to be able to integrate the wiki into the main site as much as possible - with some other nice custom features - as a community, we could be served better by a site with more dedicated functions for musicians, developers, groupies (like me  ) .. this site is very old now, and feels it every day..
I don't want to post a link to what's been done so far - instead, can you post some good ideas about what you'd like to see, or good stuff on other sites?
RSS feeds, custom panels, the usual bits and pieces that modern sites have.. wiki integration (for help etc), that's what I'm thinking. Maybe an RSS for new songs? Could invent a new buzzword too, psyclecasting! Be nice if psycle could update itself automatically over RSS, for new plugs, songs etc..
So, whats the thoughts? I'm up for the challenge, learning all this stuff is pretty interesting so far.

One thing I've wanted for a while now (It's been years that I've been requesting this) is song reviews linked to the song download.... ie: for every song, there is a review area.
This would make reviews much more pertinent to downloaders and to songwriters.
No rating system, ie: No 1-10 scales, just a place to put a bunch of reviews.

I agree - no ratings system, it can be restrictive.
Also, I think the song database should be scrapped and instead, we just have a sub-forum for song reviews etc. We could have a section on the front page that says "Latest songs" and link it to the latest threads in that sub-forum or something. As it stands, the song database is a bit unweildy.
EDIT: also, can we please have the SAME colour for all the replies in a thread - then I can make my signature image with the correct background colour

Mmmm.. Now that you say this... I think it was a feature of Psycle 1.0/1.1 :B :B :B (each track had this, one darker, one lighter)
It basically helps separating the threads. I suppose it would suffice if the buttons are put in a header and the header have the different colour.

why not use alpha transparency for the background of you image

Yes you do :-) PNG has an 8 bit alpha channel

While I personally love PNG, I realize that IE doesn't support it's Alpha transparency in the browser. You need to make it IE Compatible, if you want 80% of users to see it correctly.

good to see that the site now looks the same in IE and in firefox
one minor thing - I think the arrows along the top bar should be part of the hyperlink.

personally (just a comunity member opinion) i wasn't too sure about this new site going on as i always liked the one we already have... but ...
... actually, that blue looks good. degradé background... really cool.... nice general pallette, definitely. is fresher...
I like the idea of preserving the present psycledelics logo too... (it always hooked somehow on me)
rss feeds for new songs (and posts maybe? or perhaps a watched-topic reply notification by mail -like the rebirth museum i.e.) that can't certainly hurt nobody
(maybe even an optional theme -like just different color tones-... thats just another suggestion...)
still work to do of course... so far, so good...

The ghost heatseeker is coming back... bhoooo !
no i'm not dead... i was only sleeping, dreaming about a nightmare.
and Dan kicked me in the ass: "Hey buddy, do you have your code, i'll try to do something with it..."
okay ! so few chat later, i decided to share my framework, the application, the design etc...
Dan learns so much so quickly, it will be a pleasure to work with him.
He has so much energy, he is like the pink rabbit of Duracell, smaller ears of course !
With his precious help and ideas, i'm sure we will be able to release something quickly.
My other goal is to develop the PNC portal. But this is an other story.
I apologize for the time while i let you in the dark about the future of psycledelics. It was a really pain for ksn too, because he had nothing to do with this big late but he was in the front line.
So, please, don't ask him too often aobut hte psycledelics development. If you have any questions, ask Dan or me, we will share the info.

Yeah, its going to be all change very soon! Ignore all the cack on the current demo site - I'll probably password it soon anyway, cos we'll keep it under wraps till its ready to roll. Thanks for the feedback so far, again!

And now thinking on this... what would happen to those posts? You'd need to set them to the new user.. SQL should do that easily though.
