Wanted: Psycle Tips Article Writer

As you may or may not know, I publish a monthly magazine called Static Line: http://www.scenespot.org/staticline

I would very much like to have someone write a monthly column for Psycle Tips and Tricks. Maybe one month, it's tricks about useing Psycle. Maybe the next month, it might highlight a machine, or so on. The idea is to promote Psycle for what it's worth. I think this column could be a benefit both to the magazine, and to Psycle.

If you're interested, please contact me: coplan@scenespot.org

I think this article thingy is a great idea, though I dunno who's gonna write it.

I don't have much time ATM

Time isn't really so much of a concern. Well, it is, but it's not nearly as time consuming as one might think. The magazine is only a monthly magazine. It's only released once a month. This gives most of our current writers plenty of time to write their columns and articles.

I'm also a realist. I'm fully aware that ones life could potentially be busy one month, and an article or a column might not get written. Hell, I've missed a month or two of a magazine in my day. So, I'm pretty flexible.

If you're interested, maybe you might want to try one or two other people to help you out. Maybe you could take turns...occasionally, you might overlap. But I find a column with a topic such as this to be an asset to the magazine, and I would be more than flexible to get it in even part-time.

Hmm. If we do some co-op work, this article thing won't be too difficult.

So, let's try to do at least something

Psyclers and specially people @ #psycle.. ahoy?

I'd love to help out...but as my title says, i'm a bit of a newbie at Psycle.

Lord knows...as I grow better, I'll be contributing as well. I'll continue my quest to find people willing to co-author a column of this nature.

Cheers,

I'll give it a shot for the first one

I'm a little cramped for time, but I can probably do a basic tutorial on Machine creation, and other simple things. I would think that the first article should introduce the program to the world.

I'm assuming most of the readership is familiar with other trackers? How big do you want it? What's the deadline?

I'll pass it around at #psycle when I'm done so other people can add to it, modify it, correct it, etc...

Does anyone have a catchy title for a series of Psycle articles?

The next issue is actually coming out in two weeks. The official deadline for article submissions is the 27th of January (which is next weekend). I can let it slide a few days, but please don't rush it. I'd rather wait 'til the following issue, if you'd like.

Anyone who would be reading the article is familiar with tracking in general. It's safe to assume that one understands the process. And we've even had a few articles about basic synthesis theory, so that will help as well.

Articles can be sent to me in plain-text: coplan@scenespot.org. Actually, you can send it to me in almost any format you want, I'll format it the way we need to for the magazine. Meanwhile, it is always online: http://www.scenespot.org/staticline

If you need any help with it, please contact me as well. I might not know psycle that well yet, but I'm getting there. But I can always help with the writing of the articles.

Well, I'm on my way home now...just got a new toy to play with (Roland XP-30 ).

Ahh...yah, we have to fix that.

As fingersoup said, you can always select it from "http://www.scenespot.org"; within our menu. I'm going to fix the link. We just had to redo our system, so we had to redo a lot. Guess that was overlooked.

Sorry 'bout that...should work very shortly.

We're actually redoing SceneSpot right now. I got frustrated with the way we generated all the HTML, and I was even more frustrated with the fact that our HTML didn't meet standards. So, I started over.

It'll look somewhat inactive for a little while...but not that the old site can't be used. We will save the database information.

Anyhow...as far as psycle, i'm getting into it more now. I just got myself a MIDI keyboard, so I'm going to see if I can mess with it some. I read that it's possible, but I don't know to what extent. Can I control my synth from psycle?

Well...gotta go work on scenespot some more now.

Any chance I might be able to get an article for the March issue from someone? First article...I think it should be pretty simple.

Again, I'm always willing to help writers in any way I can.

Thanks again,

I've got a first article written, Just getting some proofreading done before submission. Pikari and Bohan have seen it, and if [JAZ] gets a chance, and I run into him in IRC, I'd like to get him to look it over to make sure i've got all the technical aspests of it 100% accurate.

It's essentially a tutorial on what you need to know to get sound out of psycle, and sequence the patterns in Psycle.

Wow...that was quicker than I thought.

That might even make it in for the February issue. Good stuff!

Make sure that you give it a title, and a subtitle (if necessary). And also make sure you give me all article credits and contact info too. Though, I guess I could easily get it from here, eh? =)

Thanks again,

Cheers,

Good article, but broken e-mail

I got that article that you sent me, FingerSoup. It's pretty good. I tried to reply, though, and your e-mail address returned with an error. I'm aware that the @home address isn't really working anymore, but I know there is a direct e-mail address. Maybe you could e-mail me again and inform me of your e-mail?

I really liked the article, and the approach you took. I'll definately be sticking it in the next issue. Thank you. It is my hope that it helps to promote the Psycle Community.

Cheers,

Wow...aren't I in a wierd mood today?
