NorthWind - The Return

La la la la LA laaa de da.

This song Begins with a cute melodic accompaniment of plucked strings and piano. The melody is sweet and most of the sound is ok besides a few notes which have dodgy resonant quality playing on the right channel.Since MDA Piano producers a quality sound I can only speculate that this slight resonant distortion has come from an effect used.

But not to let a few technical issues spoil the general feel of this song which is a trippy meander in sound, and over all has been well put together with the different sound and effect used to make a sound that is refreshing and hopeful .In fact, if I hadn't downloaded this song from the psycles song section I'd swear it was made in Buzz.

  Organic Atom - DANCEnRg

This one stretches the bounds of what you could call music. it's more of an ambience. Although it does have strong musical overtones, such as a tribal (as in druidic, not as in dance) beat, and a reccuring basslline, throughout a majority of the song, it drones on and on, which creates an atmosphere... Except for a few sliced parts, and some synthish overtones, it is incredibly natural-sounding. The subtle didgeridoo sound that pops in every now and then is a nice touch, along with the drums in general. This one would be great movie soundtrack for some kind of creepy jungle/rainforest scene.

Thanks for the Interesting review fingersoup.

mmmm.....?it's weird I've had other reviewers say some of the music I produce would be a great movie sound track.I used too feel this may because I'd occasionally watch TV and only then Movies. But since I haven't really watched a movie or TV in months I'm not sure where the 'Movie soundtrack' is coming from.

Is it possible it's because I've produced a sound that is rather Alien to others, thus they fit or place it in a 'sci-fy - Fantasy - fiction movie?' rather than an actual life event.

The song ' Organic Electron ' was produced over a short period, where everyday I was cycling too a relatively remote location- I.E Quite often no sight nor sound of other human beings.

Its a location in the yorkshire pennines and as large rugged hills, stone walls, sheep, reservoirs, birds of prey.

The over all landscape has a huge amount of texture and feeling of depth and the environments sounds without the distortion of traffic sound clear as Crystal.I think this song was largely influenced by this place, the grainy sounds of the wind over rough surfaces, the depth of the reservoirs and the presence of the native wildlife all contributing too a feeling of being absolutely alone or unique and secure within that feeling, though alone with nature which is naturally part of me.

  Extraordinary - Northwind

Pop-rock/Funk fusion... very interesting. it's good to hear more people branching out into so many different genres of music. If I had to cite influences on this one, I'd say the guitar playing was heavily influenced by Blind Melon, althought the tone of the intro (before the blind melon stuff kicks in) for some reason reminds me of the song "Right Here Right Now" by Jesus Jones (Yes I'm really digging into my early 1990's music refrences). I might as well include Fatboy Slim in the list because it is a seamless blend of old instruments (the Hammond organ that kicks in near the end) and various styles of old and new music.

The song isn't perfect though, and has a few abrupt stops. This wouldn't be so bad, but the guitar tone isn't quite right for some of the lead ins. The guitar tone reminds me of wet sand - Saturated and gritty. While this isn't so bad most of the time, there are times where it needs the backing of other instruments to keep it sounding nice. The guitar tone is not bad for the style, but it's a matter of personal taste... When you blend different styles like this, it's very difficult to find a perfect balance that pleases everyone.

Overall a good peice of music which definetly illustrates the bounds of what Psycle is capable of.

  D-503 - Cyclone

It's good to see Artists releasing their music in different formats, I.E ogg and Different mp3 bi-rates like D-503's Cyclone showing up on my media player as a variable mp3 birate of 144.As many mp3 hosting sites still restrict their format to only 128 Constant mp3.

D-505's Cyclone is an interesting sound,a song mixed with software like or game like sounds and other synthetic strings, which gives a strange listening experience.A Sound which isn't easy to place,it has a melodic structure though isn't saying 'sing along',kind of abstract.

I can't really place the sound with the songs title 'cyclone' though people can experience things in such different ways and viewpoints theirs no reason why I should be able too.May D-503 can relate in words the relation between the sound and the title 'cyclone' .

'La galinette sandree !'

Quite a dark psy trance sound this track, lots of Ambience's and quite a driving structure of beats and rhythms, theirs some interesting use of voice effects used and the sounds are quite q acid like and harsh. If I had to make a complete guess at the songs title I would go for something like 'creature of the night' in fact this could be a vampires theme song used in flight searching for its next victim to quench its addictive like first for blood.

Just say no mr Vampire for one drop is never enough .

quality psychedelic trance song, though only if you hope ever to see the morning sun .

  Taika-Kim - unessaelama

This song has a Very interesting beginning, some almost lapping like strings and nice insect like effects.then the beat starts up and........?I'm just pondering, theirs not much point in me writing a review on how the song plays since simply listening too it would do that much better.

Anyway my favorite parts on this song are the effects used,

A Quality psy trance song nicely produced and put together.

Thanks.. the main reason I guess is because I wanted to give some friends a listen and thought they might be afraid of an ogg. mp3 is as much of a standard as VHS and although it isn't as technically superior as Ogg, more people have an media player capable of playing mp3 than ogg. Its like handing someone a Beta video when they are more likely to be only able to play VHS. But I did put it in 128 VBR to save a little space :-)

I had the original melody in my head and kind of added to it. The freaky sound is the Muon Tao, you can hear it in the intro and on into the first verse. All other sounds are generated by Linplug's Free Alpha and the Synth 1 vst. I later added native psycle effects like CrossDelay, Compression and Phaser. I guess the song is influenced by game or mod music I've listened to in the past. Like I said in an earlier post. I guarantee you won't get the same Genre from me :-).

I chose Cyclone because I wanted the title to convey tragedy. Just imagine and Cyclone or some other natural disaster coming along and wiping out your house. Or your loved ones. That is how I feel when I listen to the music. Its like something bad is going to happen or has happened.

Yes.. I like Loup's "Bubble Race" also. To me it sounds Aphex Twin/Squarepusher like but has its own unique style. Very cool song indeed. BTW, what the smeg is IDM? :-)

I'm sorry I don't review alot. I come from a Guitar playing background and have only been listening and composing electronica for just over 3 years. I don't know what genre my own music is let alone someone elses. So I'm not really in a position to review someone elses electronica :-) but if a song sounds like rock, grunge, metal, funk or other guitar based styles I would be more inclined to give a half decent review :-)

Sampler - "Oxigeno"

Ok.. here goes...

This song is very unique. I hear many different styles all mixed in. I would describe it as a New Order/Crystal Method/Rob Dougan/Propellerheads hybrid mixed with a hint of trance. The song constantly transforms and changes into something else yet retaining the theme of the song. This song is complex indeed, musically flawless and sounding very pro. Nice work sampler :-)

This is a song by _sue_ and the title is in French and translates into "Yes! I speak!".

I rate it highly. It has an enchanting rhythm and the vocals add a touch of ambience.

Hey,

I'm writing my reviews of psycle songs, reviews seem too be quite short on many boards maybe because the actual person to review a song is the Artist themselves since only they truly know what sound they hear whilst producing it.And blowing your own trumpet of how fantastic you know your latest song is isn't the point of having a Review board for listeners feedback.

The first song I shall review is 'chin by loup' and I shall review any songs added to the psycle songs section after this song.

If you would prefer for me not too review your song because you think my reviews suck or whatever the reason just let me know and I won't Review them.
