From Pikari on 29.08.2002, 11:59: ![]() Does anyone have any good tips on making your own kick drum samples (for goa)? no?

From sampler on 29.08.2002, 12:49: Hey Pik, u can create fantastic kicks with BUZZ and its kick machines!

From Pikari on 29.08.2002, 17:43: do you mean JMDrum when saying drum machine? I don't like much using it... maybe I can't use it or then it's too simple. (yes, I have achieved to make a few good sounds with it, but they aren't good enough)

From Taika-Kim on 29.08.2002, 17:46: Usually a trance kick consist of a pitch modulated sinewave or somethin very close to sinewave. |

From Pikari on 29.08.2002, 17:58: Thanks for advice. I DID read the "how to make a bass drum" text from the infected mushroom site.. but I didn't want to put one of those damn warez CDs of mine into the CD drive to install sound forge. Warez suck.. but.. hmm.. well.

From Hockinfinger on 29.08.2002, 22:45: In the old days (way back in the 20th century) some trackers used to use the same kick drum sample simultaneously on 2 different tracks, one played at a half step interval from the other. In some tracking software, alternate tracks were left and right channels, so the 2 out-of-tune kick samples gave a nice stereo thump.

From Pikari on 30.08.2002, 07:45: I was asking for trance kicks.. but new samples are already welcome..

From Taika-Kim on 30.08.2002, 13:06: Hmm, gotta check that IM kick tutorial |
From Pikari on 30.08.2002, 14:09: I like IM because they mix other genres with goa. they're kinda intelligent intelligent (yes two times intelligent) goa.. though a bit sophisticated (is that the word?.

From /\/\arc on 03.09.2002, 15:20: ![]() the tutorial at infected mushroom's site it great and you can produce real good, punchy sounds with it. all you need is a sinewave |
From Pikari on 03.09.2002, 20:25: The problem is that I don't want to install that ripped Soundforge I have on a CD.. Are there any (free) wave editors? Someone?
|
From LordGalvar on 04.09.2002, 13:43: I found a free wave editor off of modplug's site. It is called SoundEngine. I don't really know the pros and cons of it. I was going to use it and then I started messing around with audio/video tapes and stuff. I hope that helps. The link to the file on modplug's site is somewhere in community/reasource files (or links). Yea. Modplug is where I started, sigh.

From Hockinfinger on 04.09.2002, 13:55: Pik, I have used CoolEdit96 for a long time, and it is nice solid wave editing software. It has a tone synthesis section, which allows frequency modulation, as well as some very nice effects. It is "free" if you have the registration code

From ksn on 04.09.2002, 17:24: i second LordGalvar on SoundEngine, and it's been listed here in the links section for months ....
|
From LordGalvar on 04.09.2002, 17:57: Well, include me as one of the blind. I never even noticed the links page. I guess I do live up to California's stereotype of the dumb blond and palm trees. Eh, oh well.

From JAL7OH on 09.09.2002, 21:38: Hockinfinger, cooledit is not free and if youre using ce96 which is from 1997/96 you should really consider actually buying the thing. The nfo (which is probly Radiums) sez that the release is for evaluation purposes and if youre using the app or making money of it you should buy it. |
From Hockinfinger on 10.09.2002, 04:37: Once again my attempts at being humorous have failed. I downloaded the trial version of cooledit96 back in 1999. When I attempted to purchase the software I was told that Syntrillium no longer supported it. After saving many many pennies ($199.00 worth), I bought Cooledit Pro 1.2 and convinced their nice tech support people to throw in the registration code for Cooledit 96, which I still use more than Cooledit Pro.

From Pikari on 10.09.2002, 09:24: I know what soundengine is. I even use it to master all my mp3 songs! Unfortunately it's still pretty buggy (though I should also d/l a new version if there is any) and not good for short files.
