  Psycle 1.12 Thread

First I must to thank you for this release. I'm enjoying a lot.

Second I must to talk about some issues I've found and I want to share:

1) Psycle crashes when I replace effects connected to mixer's returns.

2) Machine vfastverb.dll doesn't store right delay value on lock delay off. When I load a song or a preset with different right and left delays values, it's loaded in both delays with right delay value.

3) Second font play color it's not stored. I must to change it manually in the config file.

4) Note delay command ''0EDx'' in sampler works as note cut. I've uploaded an example comparing sampler vs sampulse [CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD]

5) Sampulse: In ''on a new note do [...] but if the same [Note] do [Note continue]'', the continued note doesn't stop on a different new note. I've uploaded an example file [CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD]. First pattern uses note off commands to show how it should sound. Second pattern playing the instrument in Sampulse and third pattern playing a virtual instrument, doesn't use note off commands (listen to tracks 1 and 3).

6) Virtual generators don't respond to ''note off'' command from MIDI keyboard when 2 or more notes are played live. It doesn't happen with the same instrument played live from sampulse with the keyboard. You can test it using the previous test file in point 5).

7) Sampulse: The percentage of ''sustain value'' in amplitude's envelope that is shown any time that Sampulse window is opened is the same of ''Envelope Mod.''. You can test it using the file I uploaded in point 5): Open Instrument editor -> Sampulse instruments -> Amplitude. You can see that sustain value is 50%. Try to change it up to 100%. Close Instrument editor window and then open it again. You can see that ''Sustain value'' percentage is 50 again. Try to change only ''envelope mod'' percentage: Take a look at the sustain graphic representation if you change ''envelope mod'' percentage.

Thanks in advance.

Hi.

Nice that you enjoy this new version. I am also enjoying it (haven't done any new piece yet, but the two demosongs were fun enough )

So, ok, I see most of the problems are small, aside of the crash (Seems that there is always some problem with the mixer and connections. Let's hope i fix it all now).

About problem 5, you reported it and i forgot to tell you that it seems that such thing happens due to the loop at the very beginning of the amplitude envelope.
I have to investigate if it is logical that after noteoff, it reaches that point.
If you disable this, you'll see that it acts like you expect.

I must say thank you too. I've never felt like psycle tracker was going to crash each time I loaded a vst plugin before. Its so stable now that I even can continue on making music for game dev. Been using sunvox allot cause it was really stable but now I feel like just using mostly psycle tracker. Also there is a feature sunvox has that psycle tracker never had. Its putting patterns on top of each other and mixing them up in a pattern editor. Will this pattern editor appear in next version like the linux version qpsycle does have it I believe.

Thanks a whole bunch though. Great tracker, powerful and stable now.

Thanks Josep. You're right: Most of the problems involve SR-Mixer. I must to add one more issue:

8.) Replacing VST Fx with Psycle SR Mixer leads to Psycle crash. Try to load a VST Fx (i.e. Stardust from Psycle VST pack) and connect it to the Master. Afterwards replace this machine with Psycle SRMixer... et voilą!

9) Sampulse's: Open the instrument window and click on ''Sampulse Instruments'' tab. Go to ''Instrument name'' box and press intro key inside it: This is what I usually call ''a clean workspace''.

10) Tabbing on Note map: In Psycle help there's a screenshot of the instrument note mapping window where it's shown a tabbed distribution of notes and samples in ''Note map''. My Psycle installation doesn't shows this distribution (it would be a suggestion by me) [CLICK HERE TO SEE A SCREENSHOT] and I don't know if it's related to my system (WinXP) or my Psycle build:

quote:

Version: Psycledelics 1.12.0 release
Build config options:
- Compiler build tool chain = msvc-150030729.1-32-bit
- RMS VU = 1
- Debugging = off
Built on: Sep 27 2014, 19:22:32

Suggestions:
=========
Enjoying Sampulse leads me to some improvements :

S1) A nice feature I love on sample load is that it's played when it's selected, so it's easy to find a particular sound in my samplebank collection. It would be nice if this feature could be implemented when loading instruments too. Maybe it could be played one note (i.e. C4) when each file is selected.

S2) Load multiple samples at once: Several selected samples will be placed consecutively on load in the sample bank. It's an improvement when i.e. creating multisampled instruments.

S3) Option to link samples and instruments in Sampulse: Big samples and/or instruments are stored inside the .psy file too. Maybe they could be linked to its disk address as user wants. They will be loaded on memory but not saved inside the Psycle song file. It will improve autosave time, and will save disk space as some instruments could be shared by different songs. Of course, if the sample or instrument are not found in its expected address on load, Psycle would ask for that file showing the original address & name.

Thanks in advance.

9) Oups I haven't checked the cause, but I think that's because originally there were 5 tabs, and probably i am setting the focus on the tab that was removed.

10: Yes, that is to be expected, although i might be able to improve it.

The tabulation is obtained in Vista/7/8 with the font "Consolas", which isn't available in XP. There, it uses the "Courier New" one.

Probably, I could try to look for another one like fixedsys, I'll see.

S1: Yes, that is planned. It wasn't implemented initially because it is not as easy (As an instrument, it needs to be interpreted by sampulse, not only by a waveform player)

S2: I briefly thought about it but didn't look further on implementing it. I will put it on the todo.

S3: That is done with the fluidsynth native plugin, but I'm not so sure what would be the correct thing to do with samples. I put it in the todo list to think about it later
