  Psycle 1.11.4 beta Thread

First, thanks for this new release. I was playing a bit and I've got some issues I want to share:

1) Tweak recording in pattern uses pattern step value. Any change in machine knobs is recorded in track in different rows unless pattern step 0.

2) Instrument save doesn't work in a instrument I'm creating. It doesn't open the save dialog window. I've uploaded the .psy file [CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD] . It's located in slot 00 of the instrument bank. I've created another instrument in slot 01 with a sample used by instrument 00 and it's saved correctly.

I'm still having problems with machines overload [CLICK HERE TO SEE A SCREENSHOT].

Thanks in advance.

PS: Congratulations for virtual instruments feature.

Hi.

Ok, the tweak bug is the type of problems i wanted feedback from.
Since I made changes to the code so that there weren't duplicates, some of the different behaviours could be intentional, like in this case. I will fix that.

On the other hand, seems i cannot reproduce the save bug in Win 7. I'll try later in Win XP. Said that, I think it can be because of the colon ":" in the name. Since that is the name that is going to use to save, and it is not a valid character, the dialog in XP might not be showing. In Win 7 it simply doesn't allow to save, but the dialog appears.

You're right. After removing the colon, I've could save the instruments. Thanks.

I haven't tested my MIDI keyboard 'till now and I found that playing notes with it hides cursor in pattern view in my system. Highlighted line number stood still. I must to press any PC keyboard key to show it back.

1.11.4 beta hasn't been released. I placed an alpha 1.11.4 here to get feedback.

I have fixed a couple of bugs in that alpha, and I want to release it as final version in the following weeks.

More feedback:

1) I'm not able to use virtual instruments with both Note Duplicator machines. They're shown in Output machine box but there's no sound is generated. Virtual instruments work as they should playing them directly.

Suggestions:

2) In wave Editor, it's useful to show in the toolbar these functions:
- Move to loop start & Move to loop end: To create loops it is useful to move from one to the other point to see similarities and create nice loop points for melodic instruments mainly (strings, pads, and so on).
- Zoom icons: Show all, zoom selection, increase zoom, decrease zoom.

3) In song bar, there're no buttons for increase & decrease by 10 BPM (they were there in previous versions). I suggest to restore them or make its value editable.

Thanks in advance.

Note Dupe: Mmm.. I see. Seems that there's an error and is not sending the instrument index to the sampler/sampulse. I'll fix it.

Wave ed: ok, I think will reuse the start/end buttons to step into the loops if they are present.

Zoom: The slider/buttons on the bottom right are the zoom bar.

Song BPM: I removed those because I needed more space when the "extraticks" feature is activated. One can add/substract 10 by pressing control key while clicking, and the field is editable from the song properties dialog.
At a later date I might think on other solutions. Also maybe opening the song properties dialog when clicking the bpm label might be useful too.

More feedback:

1. Bug: In Sampulse's Pitch tab when I configure ''on a new note do [...] but if the same [Note] do [Note Continue]'', note doesn't stop even on Note off after the new note (The new note stops but the previous one doesn't).

2. Suggestion: Virtual Instruments should record Note velocity/volume in instrument number box instead of parameter box

3. Bug: Virtual Generator list is not updated as soon as I create a new one in Sampulse. I must to click in other instruments first.

5. Suggestion: When deleting an instrument that shares samples with other instruments, there should be an (/another?) advertisement about this fact after asking for deleting instrument associated samples too. Something like ''The samples that you are going to delete are used by other instrument(s). Would you delete them anyway? [YES] [NO]''.

6. Bug?: Some AIFF samples are not played by Sampler/Sampulse, even if they are in PCM format like this example. This file is loaded by sample bank and the waveform is shown but it's not played.

7. Improvement: In the sample list of the Instrument note mapping, the space between both 2 columns should be bigger. On big sample names, one column tramples on the other as it's selected. Other solution could be letting just one column with a vertical scroll bar.

8. Suggestion: Possibility of Sampulse window resizing saving its size and position for other Psycle sessions. It's useful for bigger resolutions in relative small screens (i.e. 4K). Resizable elements could be the piano, envelope graphics, sample/instruments lists, and so on.

9. Bug?: I've uploaded an instrument I'm working on that doesn't stop on noteoff before sustain loop starts. I don't know what's going wrong. [CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD]. The sustain loop starts in 1 sec, so do a note off before.

10. Suggestion: Could it be possible to arrange the piano graphic horizontally with a horizontal scroll bar instead in horizontal frames as it is shown now?

That's all... by now. Thanks in advance.

PS: Have I already said that I'm enjoying a lot Sampulse?

Ops! I left one last (but not the least) issue of this report:

11. Bug: I've got system crashes after rendering and closing Psycle. Windows hangs and I must to restart the computer manually. There's no rendered wav file.
