Have you ever tried to double your drum patterns with a filter?Connect your sampler directly to the master and in the same time send it through a lowpass again to the master.Works very nice for me in some occasions.

you're right. i also like to add a touch of flanger to drums and percussions (a "touch" i said, somthing like preset chorus 1 and wet value at around 20%)
