  Randomize velocities

I think Psycle deserves this feature.

Is there a simple VST plugin to randomize velocities in instruments like hihats, maracas, shakers, or even snares? I tried Psycle's native flanger, but didn't like the results. The wah wah, altough amazing for synths and pads, isn't what I'm searching for this task.

I don't like to load/configure a single sample for each hit. So, if someone have a sugestion about it (VST or even a tip) I'll be forever grateful!

There's a plan to improve or make another machine similar to note duplicator, which should allow to send different parameters. In some way, a "instruments screen" of a machine. There were plans for LFO and Automation (user-defined envelope, triggered, which applies to a machine or set of machines), but those efforts were partly stopped when moving onto linux.

I would expect these things to get a go again once the linux version is on par with what we have now (we're getting there)

I don't think that "random VCF" and "random panning" features are so important. In truth, I'd like to know if someone uses it....

On another hand, if there were a checkb-box with this kind of feature, it'll be a gain of workflow. Hope to see the new habilities planned for Psycle soon!

So... is there a VST for a task like this?

you could use the command CCXX, xx being random velocities.

Yes, but then you have to do the randomising yourself - still not really a solution

still, it is better than nothing.

also, if you input your notes with a midi keyboard and enable tweaks velocitys will be recorded and there will be inherent randomization

Sorry but I can get it, shadowbane. I tried this command (like C-4 00 00 CC88, for example), and nothing happens. I don't use MIDI/keyboards, so could you elaborate a bit?

But it would be cool if there were a plugin with this feature. Kinda, set a up/down limit for the randomness, and the samples plays at different velocities.

I think it's time to have some conversation with our brothers from KVR audio.

Thanks, but I know this command already. In fact, I use it all the time.

What we're talking here is about velocities, but I'm unable to use shadowbane's command.

Do you mean randomise volume? If so, you can do a bit of a hack, that may do what you want. Have a sampler, load your sample, and give it randomised panning. Run the sampler through a machine that can convert to mono, e.g. Haas or zstereo. The random panning then gives random volumes instead.

e.g. http://psycle.free.fr/mutilus/random_volume.psy

Yes! For sure!

But, no. It isn't what I'm trying to do. This could be easier if I'd set a gainer automation curve, so I can have even more control about the volumes of each hit. Easy enough.

That's not the case. I want random VELOCITIES or, at least, a way of controlling them automatically. Think of a drummer playing a hihat pattern: each hits has different volumes but different velocities/pitches too, depending how he hits the hats.

But I think there isn't a free plugin for this task. Did a search on KVR, and nothing.

EDIT:

@mutilus: I downloaded your example, but was unable to find what plugin it is. However it's not a problem, since I use Kelly Industries Stereo Tools for this very same task.

Here's what I'm trying to do (without the hassle of editing every sample)

ah. what you want to do is to automate envelope times (decay)

with velocity most people mean midi velocity (how hard you hit the key)

BINGO!

I know nothing about MIDI...
