  Psycle development Status: November 2007

Welcome everyone.

After the long awaited release of Psycle 1.8.5, (and realizing that there were still bugs ), the development continues.

Here's what's been worked out so far:

Psycle: We are aware of these problems which should get fixed in a new release ( date not set ):
- .fxb and .fxp loading/saving doesn't work well. With some plugins it can generate invalid files. .psy song loading/saving should not be affected.

- A few VST's crash psycle, showing a "pure virtual function call" message.
I was aware of this problem previous to the release, although at the time seemed a problem with one specific plugin. Work will be done to find out if it is a fault of the VST specification, or Psycle itself, and if a workaround can be found.

- The SendReturn mixer is still not bugfree, especially when moving wires around. Other than that, it works quite well.

psycle-core: Most of the work done after the release has gone to psycle-core. Right now it isn't as complete as Psycle itself, but many problems have been resolved. Also, it can now be compiled and used in a PowerPC Mac! Many thanks to magnus for his work on this.

Missing things are implementing back the new Mixer and Sampulse, as well as working out some smaller details (some global commands are still not implemented in the loaders).

Following those additions, it's planned to make it a true library (it already is, but 15MB of library isn't exactly what one would expect to play .psy's) and make Psyclemfc use it as its backend.

qpsycle: Work on the multiplatform edition of psycle has been slow, although since it uses psycle-core, improvements have appeared as a consequence. Next steps are going to improve the usability of the pattern editor and machine editor, and maybe start testing some of the new features wanted for psycle-core.
