Sometimes Asio4All seems to produce a brighter sound than for example the directsound-driver.

Is that possible or not?

I don't see a reason why this would happen from a logic point of view.

What i think that could happen is in the lines of having different sampling rate selected in each of those. By default, ASIO used to use 48Khz, while directsound and MME is set to use 44Khz.
