  sequencer not appearing..

hello there,

just downloaded psycle, and as an old-fashioned hardware user with a patheticly weedy computer, I can say it's quite fun to be able to play round with VST synths and effects for once!

However, there's a couple of things I can't get my head around which may be bugs (or may just be me being stoopid)

Firstly, if I want to arrange the patterns I've made into a sequence, I assume I need to either click the "sequencer" button (to the right of the "pattern" button at the top of the screen) or tick the "pattern sequencer" option in the "view" drop-down menu?

Well, neither of those two things seem to do anything.. If I click the "sequencer" button, nothing happens... and if I tick the option in the menu, again.. nothing happens.. I just stay on whatever screen I'm already on.

The second thing (and I'm guessing this might just be a problem with the actual plugins themselves) is that I can't seem to get any sample-based VSTi to work. VST synths and effects seem to work perfectly, but anything which plays back WAVs... no sound at all.. I did manage to get a sound out of a sampling drum machine plugin but only when double-clicking it in the machine edit screen... when I entered note values in the pattern screen and then pressed play... no sound... am I missing something really obvious?

ps: I'm using windows 98, don't know if that could be a factor?

Not all VSTs work perfectly in Psycle. Halion for example doesn't play sounds.

You arrange the patterns in the pattern list view in the left side of the screen, the "pattern sequencer" is for an upcoming block-like sequencer that's not ready yet...

Taika-kim is right about the sequence.

I just want to add that those sampler basaed VST's might use the midi channel to indicate which sample to play (or maybe they use some notes for it).

If it is the first case, you need to fill the second colum column ( note - aux - mach - effect as in C-4 .. 01 ....) indicating the midi channel ( so the above example becomes C-4 01 01 ....).

Also, the other possibility (unprobable in the example you give me), is that it has multiple audio outputs.
Psycle just supports the first two (stereo) right now.
