From ksn on 05.11.2003, 11:02: Compo #4 comments here's the thread for all comments, suggestions etc... for the infamous Compo #4 ! |
From lastfuture on 06.11.2003, 02:20: my compo tune has currently 18 generators and 10 effects, is 8:15 long and still far from being repetitive.

From Beer Incorperated on 06.11.2003, 12:56: Maybe it's me, but natifying vst's? What do you mean?

From nolwenn on 08.11.2003, 01:12: Hello boys |
From Taika-Kim on 10.11.2003, 11:00: Hmm, oh no, all the exams are coming at me like an avalanche here at the uni... Well, I'll just hafta find some time, this is SO cool |
From FingerSoup on 11.11.2003, 00:17: I've used M3 to make several sharp percussive sounds, such as snares, hats, etc... An M3 using Noise OSC's with quick Amp env. attack, no Amp env. sustain, and a fairly quick release. Toss that through a 2 pole filter, or a bandpass filter. I'm sure you can get a relatively decent clap sound (or percussive sound to fit)
From MfM on 13.11.2003, 11:49: OK!I'M very happy for this compo!!!!
From [JAZ] on 13.11.2003, 13:59: I am trying to make someone port a drums (kick, hihat, snare,etc...) machine to Psycle, but I'm not sure how much will this take. The intention is to make it avaiable during this month, so it could be used in this compo.
From sampler on 14.11.2003, 09:21: That would be cool, as well as u improve a bit JMDrum synth....
From Taika-Kim on 14.11.2003, 12:08: I've made snare-like sounds along these lines: noise -> filter -> distortion ->reverb. A slight filter envelope might refine the sound. |
From KarLKoX on 15.11.2003, 01:09:
From lastfuture on 16.11.2003, 15:30: Thanks for all the comments, all I tried for clap sounds just came out to sound too much like a snare...
From liquid boy on 20.11.2003, 03:10: yeah, i was going to do a synth pop (joy electric, / new order) sort of track, with 'noise' sounds for the hihat / snare (not bothering to make them sound like 'real' drums - cos they sound cool as they are )
From ksn on 20.11.2003, 11:12: i'll update the compo with the first 2 submissions really soon... sorry for the delay
From dilvie on 26.11.2003, 06:09: When I read the requirements, I thought to myself, "self, you haven't written an electronic track with no percussion since ... um.. well, it's been a LOOOOOOOOOONG time"
From Taika-Kim on 26.11.2003, 11:54: I don't know how original my song is going to be, but I've been listening to Jarre a lot lately ;) His older tracks are a perfect example of how to do gripping songs without powerful percussion... |
From sampler on 28.11.2003, 00:13: oh my god! Jean Michelle Jarre ROCKS!!
